Women’s World Cup: West Indies stunned England by seven runs in the 7th match of the ongoing ICC Women’s 50-over World Cup here at the University Oval on Wednesday, thanks to a fighting bowling performance.

With England chasing 226 runs, Deandra Dottin grabbed a stunning catch to send Lauren Winfield-Hill (16) back to the pavilion in the ninth over. Tammy Beaumont hit 46, but England continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, and the score was 109/5 after 27 overs, with England requiring 117 runs to win. Danielle Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley both scored 33 points to keep England in the game. England, on the other hand, continued to lose wickets and were reduced to 156/8. Kate Cross (27) and Sophie Ecclestone (33*) put on a 61-run stand for the ninth wicket. But West Indies won by seven runs with to Anisa Mohammed’s brilliance in the 48th over.

S Campbelle had earlier scored 66 runs to help West Indies reach 225/6 in the allocated fifty overs. As West Indies achieved a total of more than 220-runs. Hayley Matthews (45) and Chedean Nation (49) both contributed with important knocks.

Sophie Ecclestone returned with three wickets for England.
