The Women’s 50-over World Cup is approaching, and stakeholders are doing everything they can to pique fans’ interest.

The forthcoming flagship event will be skipper Mithali’s final ICC event, and Star Sports, the official broadcaster of ICC events and Indian Women’s home tours, has launched the #HamaraBlueBandhan campaign to unite the nation behind the team. The campaign attempts to capture the essence of cricket and bring the link between cricket fans in India and the Women in Blue to life. The series’ first promotional film is dedicated to the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2022, with fans across India able to follow the Indian Women’s cricket team’s journey during the renowned competition.

The video picks up after India’s tragic loss to England in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup finals. Moreover, shows how close the squad came to becoming World Champions.

Since the 2017 finals, the Women in Blue’s fan base and support have grown dramatically. And the sport has given birth to a slew of new heroines who have become household names. India will have the opportunity to go one step further and win the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2022.

“The growing popularity of women’s cricketers serves as an inspiration for everyone. But especially for young girls to enter the field of sports. The #HamaraBlueBandhan campaign seeks to bind Cricket fans together to rally behind the Indian team. As it embarks on a 12-month journey of conquering world Cricket starting with the WWC 2022. Also we wish the women in blue the very best. And are sure they will continue to inspire us with their journeys,” he added.

The Women in Blue will begin their campaign against Pakistan at the Bay Oval in Tauranga on March 6, 2022. Therefore, the competition will broadcast live on Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar beginning March 4th, 2022.
