WI vs ENG 2nd Test: On Day 1 of the ongoing second Test at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, England skipper Joe Root‘s unbeaten century and a stunning knock by Daniel Lawrence gave the visitors a stronghold against the West Indies.
England’s total at Stumps was 244/3, and Joe Root was unbeaten at the crease with a score of 119. After electing to bat first, the Three Lions got off to a poor start, losing Zak Crawley to Jayden Seales in the fourth over of the match, with the team’s total at 4/1. Root then joined opener Alex Heels for a brief cameo.
After scoring 30 runs, Veerasammy Permaul removed Heels. Later, Lawrence arrived at the crease and formed a strong partnership with Root. The pair anchored the innings and continued to pound the West Indies bowlers on both sides of the field, eventually reaching the 200-run milestone.
With the team’s total at 244/3, the hosts were finally able to breathe a sense of relief when Jason Holder dismissed Lawrence after scoring 91 runs.
