Virat Kohli starts practicing for upcoming Asia Cup 2022

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli has started preparing for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

Earlier this week, India announced their 15-man squad for the Asia Cup. One of the players who returned to the national team was Virat Kohli. The event will begin on August 27 and last for five days. On August 28, India will face Pakistan in a high-stakes match to open its campaign. Virat posted a video of himself racing between wickets on Instagram.

“Running into practice week,” said the star batter’s Instagram story.

Virat’s best opportunity to rediscover his form and maybe score his eagerly anticipated 71st century in international cricket will be during the next Asia Cup.

This year, the star batter has battled with his or her form, which has generated discussion among cricket fans and players.

In his four T20I appearances this year, Kohli has only managed to score 81 runs, averaging 20.25, with one half-century. His absence from India’s tour to the West Indies was one of many notable players.

He also struggled in this year’s IPL, managing just 341 runs in 16 innings at an average of 22.73, with just two fifty-plus scores for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

In both Tests and ODIs, his performance has not been all that strong. Kohli has scored 220 runs in seven innings, averaging 31.42, in four Test games this year. His personal best mark is 79. In tests this year, he has only reached a half-century once. In ODIs, he has amassed 175 runs in eight innings at a middling average of 21.87, which is poor. This year, he has two half-centuries and also a best individual score of 65 in the format.

Regarding the Asia Cup, six teams will compete in the 15th edition of the competition in the UAE (main event). India, who are the current winners, has won the trophy seven times, making them the most successful team overall. This year’s tournament will use the T20 format, as opposed to the ODI format that was used for the previous one.

The six teams are split into two groups: Group A includes India, Pakistan, and a team that qualified; Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. In the group stage, each team faces off against the other once, with the top two teams from each group moving on to the Super 4 round. The top two teams from the Super 4 will advance to the championship.
