SL vs PAK: WATCH – Pakistan’s Yasir Shah rekindles memories of Shane Warne’s ‘Ball of the Century’ with a similar dismissal
SL vs PAK: WATCH – Yasir Shah, a Pakistani leg-spinner, on Monday dismissed Sri Lankan hitter Kusal Mendis in a manner reminiscent of Shane Warne’s “Ball of the Century.”
At Galle during the first Test match against Sri Lanka, Shah delivered this gem of a pitch. The manner of delivery and technique of dismissal were strikingly identical to those used by Warne to get rid of England’s Mike Gatting in 1993.
Shah struck the top of the right-hand batter’s off stump on Day 3 of the Test match during Sri Lanka’s second innings with an unplayable delivery that pitched well outside the leg stump and spun unbelievable.
Mendis returned to the pavilion for a well-made 76 after being left shell-shocked.

The delivery of the ball was a fitting homage to Australian icon Warne, who made an identical delivery in 1993.
The iconic delivery made by the late leg-spinner. During the opening Test of the Ashes series against England in Manchester in 1993. The ball missed the leg stump but spun so hard that it knocked England batter Gatting off his off-stump.
Gatting needed a few minutes to realise what had truly occurred to him as he stood at the crease in shock.
The death of the famous Warne in March of this year stunned the cricketing community.
