SA vs BAN: Bangladesh picked an 18-man squad for their two-match Test series against South Africa in March-April, with all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal returned.

Shakib reportedly asked for leave to play in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 event. After missing Bangladesh’s previous Test series against New Zealand.

However, he went unsold in the IPL auction, clearing the way for his return to Test cricket.

Tamim, the opening batsman and one-day skipper, has also returned. After missing the November home series against Pakistan and the January New Zealand tour due to injury.

Mohammad Naim dropped from the Bangladesh Test squad. After failing to impress in New Zealand, where Bangladesh won their first Test against the Kiwis at Mount Maunganui.

Before the Test series, Bangladesh will play three one-day internationals against the hosts.

Khaled Ahmed, a pace bowler, has called up to the 16-man one-day international team for the first time.
