Rohit Sharma surpasses Shoaib Malik’s tally to become most capped men’s T20I player

India captain Rohit Sharma surpassed Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik in terms of most men’s T20I games played.

When Rohit walked onto the field in the ongoing third and final T20I against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala, he achieved the feat. Rohit Sharma has now played 125 T20Is. While Shoaib Malik has appeared in 124 games in the shorter format of the game. With 119 T20Is under his belt, Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is third on the list.

Speaking about his record feat, Rohit during the toss said:

“It’s a great feeling representing your country in 125 T20Is, feels good, look to continue playing for many more years.”

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the third and final T20I.

India has already won the series against Sri Lanka, thus the final T20I is a foregone conclusion. In the first T20I, the hosts defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs. And in the second T20I, they defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets.

For the third T20I, India’s Rohit Sharma has named an XI with four changes. While Sri Lanka has made two changes.
