Ranji Trophy 2022: Ajinkya Rahane returns to form, smashes ton against Saurashtra
India batter Ajinkya Rahane on Thursday smashed a tonne in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022 match between Mumbai and Saurashtra.
Rahane playing for Mumbai scored 100 runs in 212 balls to help his team recover from a precarious position. When Rahane (100), who had been struggling, came into bat, Mumbai were 22/2. In the 12th over, he lost his partner Sachin Yadav, but Sarfaraz Khan (85) and Rahane put on a crucial stand to keep Mumbai’s innings alive (219/3).
Earlier in the day, in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group H encounter, Delhi batsman Yash Dhull scored a century on his first-class debut.
In the ongoing Elite Group H match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Dhull hit a century against Tamil Nadu.
Dhull, who was sent out to open, scored a century off just 133 balls, with 16 boundaries. Tamil Nadu won the toss and chose to bowl first in the ongoing match.
Dhull was removed by M Mohammed when he was on 97, but the ball was ruled a no-ball, giving the young Delhi hitter a reprieve.
After the boys in blue overcame England in the final. Dhull led India to a record sixth U19 World Cup victory.
The Ranji Trophy will be split into two phases. With the pre-Indian Premier League (IPL) phase set to take place from February 10 to March 15. However, From May 30 through June 26, the post-IPL phase will take place. This season’s Ranji Trophy will include 64 matches spread over 62 days.
