PSL 2022: Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings by 42 runs

PSL 2022: Karachi Kings lost their fifth consecutive home defeat, while Islamabad United won their third game in the Pakistan Super League at the National Stadium on Sunday.

As Islamabad United collected 177 for six in 20 overs, Alex Hales and Paul Stirling provided the third 50-run opening partnership. In their PowerPlay overs, Islamabad United scored 53 for no loss, while Karachi Kings only managed 35 for the loss of Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam, finishing at 135 for nine and losing by 42 runs.

As a result, the Karachi Kings are winless at the halfway point of the season and face elimination. The 2020 champions are far from out of the competition, but if previous events are any indication, they will need to win the remaining five matches in the Lahore leg, as well as improve their net run rate, to remain in contention for a place in the play-offs.

In the meantime, Islamabad United has six points from five games, Multan leads the standings with five consecutive victories, and Peshawar Zalmi is fourth with two wins and three losses.
