India captain Mithali Raj created history on Saturday by hitting a half-century against Australia in the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in Auckland.

Mithali Raj scored her 12th World Cup half-century. This is the 63rd half-century of Mithali’s ODI career. At the same time, she equaled former New Zealand player Debbie Hockley’s record of scoring fifty or more in an innings in the Women’s World Cup.

Both of these players have now have the record of more than 50 runs in an inning 12 times. Mithali’s magnificent 68-run knock off 96 balls came at a critical time for Team India, when they were in difficulty.
