The right-arm pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who missed the Asia Cup in the UAE due to injuries, are all set to make a return for India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in October-November.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, both pacers have passed their fitness test, which is essential to make a comeback to the national squad.

“Both Bumrah and Harshal did not feature in India’s failed campaign in the Asia Cup because of different injuries — Harshal was out with a side strain and Bumrah was out of action since July due to a back injury.

“It has been learnt that the two have regained their full fitness and bowled normally at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru recently. The two are believed to have finished their rehab,” added the report.

Bumrah and Harshal previously mentioned as being at the NCA by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on August 8, when India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022 announced.

“Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection owing to injuries. They are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru.”

Bumrah and Harshal expected to rejoin the Indian lineup, which necessitates the removal of a pacer. And a spinner in order to make room for the fast-bowling pair.

Avesh Khan, a pacer, may not make the team, and Ravi Bishnoi, a leg-spinner, may not make the team either. But according to the report, the selecting committee would decide in the end. After speaking with the management of the Indian team.

“There no immediate information if Mohammed Shami, whose exclusion from the Asia Cup team has widely criticised by experts and commentators alike, will considered at all.

However, the selectors will monitor Bumrah and Harshal’s development throughout the next home T20I series against Australia and South Africa. Both will required to compete in games against visiting teams, according to the report.

The selection committee may convene on September 15 to choose the Indian team for the T20 World Cup in Australia. That begins on October 16 and ends on November 13.

Bumrah and Harshal will accommodated. But there will also be discussion points about Deepak Hooda. And the need for two keepers—Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik.

“Having undergone a knee surgery recently, Jadeja is clearly out of reckoning. That means Axar Patel could retain his place but there will be discussions on Deepak Hooda. And the need for two wicketkeepers — Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. It may not a surprise if both selected once again. But it will a call taken after picking the brains of Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma,” concluded the report.
