IPL 2023: CSK CEO confirms MS Dhoni will lead Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023

IPL 2023: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the next Indian Premier League (IPL). The former Indian captain, who has captained the Chennai franchise for more than ten times since 2008, will serve as captain in the 2023 IPL season, confirmed CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan.

Earlier, MS Dhoni stepped down as CSK’s captain in the IPL 2022, handing over the reigns to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. This fueled speculation that this would be Dhoni’s final IPL season. After Jadeja stepped down midway through the league, Dhoni was reappointed as captain.

CSK had one of their worst IPL seasons in 2022. After falling out of contention for a play-off berth early in the season.

Most of CSK’s veteran players, including Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, and Robin Uthappa, have struggled in the IPL. And this has been the team’s biggest failure.

Because of the injury to Deepak Chahar and the inability to keep Josh Hazlewood, the bowling struggled greatly.

After playing in 90 Tests, during which he amassed 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09, he announced his retirement from the game. Also he played in 98 T20Is, 350 ODIs, and 90 Tests.

Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020 and now only participates in the Indian Premier League. Although he still regarded as one of the most popular cricketers worldwide, not only in India.
