IPL 2023: Brian Lara replaces Tom Moody as head coach of SunRisers Hyderabad
The legendary Brian Lara has replaced former Australian cricketer Tom Moody as Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s head coach for the 2023 IPL season, the team announced on Saturday.
The 53-year-old’s first assignment as a T20 team’s head coach will be this one.
In December of last year, the former captain of the West Indies joined SRH as a strategic advisor and batting coach.
“The cricketing legend Brian Lara will be our head coach for the upcoming #IPL seasons,” the IPL team posted on its official Twitter handle.

Between 2013 and 2019, Moody enjoyed a productive tenure with the Sunrisers, who made the playoffs five times and won the championship in 2016.
The 56-year-old returned to SRH as director of cricket last year. After replaced as head coach in 2020 by Australian Trevor Bayliss.
Moody was given the head coaching job despite the squad having only three victories and finished last.
As the Sunrisers finished the season in eighth place out of 10 teams. With six victories and eight losses, Moody’s second stint as head coach didn’t go well.
Following his recent appointment as its director of cricket. Moody will now join Desert Vipers, one of the six ILT20 franchises.
The tournament scheduled to held in the UAE in January next year.
