IPL 2022: Uncapped Indian players who have already became millionaires

IPL 2022: It’s that time of year again, when IPL franchises engage in heated bidding wars and spend staggering amounts of money to secure the services of the top cricketers from across the world.

Some players earn large sums of money, while others become millionaires without ever being in the auction pool, with franchises retaining/picking them through IPL drafts.

The IPL mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. During the two-day auction, a total of 590 players will go under the hammer.

The uncapped Indian players who pipped capped Indians and foreign players to be retained by the franchises ahead of the auction are listed below:

Arshdeep Singh (Left arm medium fast bowler – Retained by Punjab Kings for Rs 4 Cr)

Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer, is one of most promising young fast bowlers. Since his IPL debut in 2019, he has been excellent. After receiving widespread praise for his performance in the previous edition, it became clear that Arshdeep may be on Punjab’s shortlist of players to keep ahead of the auction. The PBKS team management decided to keep the 23-year-old bowler for Rs 4 crore ahead of the more experienced Mohammed Shami ahead of the 15th edition of the IPL.

The Rajasthan Royals rewarded Yashasvi Jaiswal’s remarkable batting prowess by retaining the 20-year-old left-hander for Rs 4 crore. Before the mega auction, he also became the second-youngest player ever to be retained across all IPL franchises. The Royals have obviously identified him as a future star and intend to make a significant investment in him.

Umran Malik (Right arm fast bowler – Retained by SRH for Rs 4 Cr)

Malik’s second stint with the Sunrisers Hyderabad as a net bowler began in IPL 2021, but his fortunes changed fast after Thangarasu Natarajan was ruled out of the tournament due to Covid-19.
