India Women Tour of England: Heather Knight undergoes hip surgery, to stay out of action during series against India, WBBL
India Women Tour of England: England skipper Heather Knight underwent surgery for a damaged hip and will be sidelined for a significant amount of time.
The home series against India scheduled for September and the Women’s Big Bash League scheduled for October-November could both be missed by the English captain. By the end of this year, she intends to return.
Surgery. I’ve had a little clean out of my hip to get me back and running soon. Unfortunately it rules me out of the India series and the WBBL, but I’m aiming to be back by the end of the year. Time to make the most of a bit of time away and bring on the rehab!,” tweeted Knight.

She already misses The Hundred, where she was supposed to be the squad captain for the London Spirit.
On July 21, Knight sustained this injury while playing the opening T20I of the bilateral series against South Africa. She was initially selected to lead England’s team at the Commonwealth Games in 2022. For the first two games, she sat on the sidelines. Later, team management reported that the injury had not healed as anticipated.
In her absence, Nat Sciver oversaw the group and led it to the knockout rounds. Also in the bronze-medal game, they were defeated by New Zealand.
In the three ODIs and three T20Is that make up the series against India, Sciver is also anticipated to skipper the team. Between September 10 and September 24, it will be broadcast.
