IND vs WI: India batter Suryakumar Yadav expressed happiness after his stunning innings helped his team to defeat West Indies on Sunday.

India defeated West Indies by 17 runs in the third and final T20I at Eden Gardens on Sunday, with Suryakumar’s 65-run innings and a spirited bowling performance. Harshal Patel finished with three wickets, while Venkatesh Iyer took two.

“Just wanted to replicate what I did in the first game. Needed someone to stay there after Rohit got out and get the team to a defendable total. We had a long chat in the team meeting as to how we are going to react under immense pressure and it came out very well,” Suryakumar told host broadcaster Star Sports.

“I just try to keep things simple. Being a little harsh on yourself in the nets, don’t hit every ball wildly and have some quality sessions. Excited for the next series,” he added.

Suryakumar Yadav (65) and Venkatesh Iyer (35*) led India’s batsmen to a total of 184/5 in the allocated twenty overs. The hosts added 86 more runs to their tally in the final five overs, pushing the total above 180 runs. For the fifth wicket, Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav put on a 91-run stand.

With this victory, India won the three-match T20I series 3-0. The Men in Blue had previously trounced the West Indies 3-0 in an ODI series. The next encounter will be a three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka, which begins on Thursday.
