IND vs SL: After a 3-0 T20I series whitewash against Sri Lanka on Sunday at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, Indian men’s team skipper Rohit Sharma said he wants to learn more about the squad’s bench strength.

The last T20I match was won by India by six wickets. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for the hosts with an undefeated 73* as the Men in Blue chased down the mark of 146 in 16.5 overs.

“It’s a pattern of everything that comes together. We played very well. Lot of positives came out from the series. Want to understand what kind of bench strength we have. Good to give opportunities to those guys,” Rohit Sharma said in the post-match presentation.

“Important to tell guys not to worry about your positions in the team. Want to fill whatever gaps we have. Keeping that in mind we want to move forward. Going to be a big challenge but always nice to have guys in form (whom to pick). Once we reach Mohali we’ll start thinking about the Tests,” he added.

In the previous 20 overs, Indian bowlers held Sri Lanka to a total of 146/5. Dasun Shanaka once again led Sri Lanka to a decent total with a captain’s inning of 74*, while Dinesh Chandimal scored 25. Avesh Khan took two wickets, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi each took one.

While pursuing the disappointing target of 146, India was never in jeopardy. Shreyas won the chase with a 73* off 45 balls, his third half-century in a row. The hosts were in complete control from the start, chasing down the mark with six wickets and 19 balls to spare.
