IND vs SL: Have to adapt, can’t complain about conditions in international cricket, says Dasun Shanaka
IND vs SL: Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka expressed disappointment after his team was thrashed by India in the third and final T20I of the three-match series here at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday.
The final T20I match was won by India by six wickets. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for the hosts with an undefeated 73* as the Men in Blue chased down the mark of 146 in 16.5 overs.
“Want to congratulate India for a wonderful performance. Need some stitches on the hand (picked up the injury attempting a catch). Been tough without our senior bowlers,” said Shanaka in a post-match presentation.
“Didn’t capitalise on the first six overs today again with the bat. The pace attack has been outstanding throughout last year or so. Not so much about pace but control. This is international cricket, we have to adapt, can’t complain about conditions,” he added.
In the previous 20 overs, Indian bowlers held Sri Lanka to a total of 146/5. Dasun Shanaka once again led Sri Lanka to a decent total with a captain’s inning of 74*, while Dinesh Chandimal scored 25. Avesh Khan took two wickets, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi each took one.
While pursuing the disappointing target of 146, India was never in jeopardy. Shreyas won the chase with a 73* off 45 balls, his third half-century in a row. The hosts were in complete control from the start, chasing down the mark with six wickets and 19 balls to spare.
