IND vs SL 3rd T20I: Wicket was supporting bowlers, says Avesh Khan
IND vs SL 3rd T20I: India pacer Avesh Khan said the wicket was helping the bowlers during the third and final T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka on Sunday at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, India pacer Avesh Khan said the wicket was helping the bowlers.
The final T20I match was won by India by six wickets. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for the hosts with an undefeated 73* as the Men in Blue chased down the mark of 146 in 16.5 overs.
“The wicket was supporting the bowlers, the plan was to just bowl proper line and lengths. The popping crease was slippery the other day (on why he struggled in the 3rd T20I against West Indies). Here I just needed to be disciplined,” said Avesh Khan in a post-match presentation.
In the previous 20 overs, Indian bowlers held Sri Lanka to a total of 146/5. Dasun Shanaka once again led Sri Lanka to a decent total with a captain’s inning of 74*. While Dinesh Chandimal scored 25. Avesh Khan took two wickets, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi each took one.
While pursuing the disappointing target of 146, India was never in jeopardy. Shreyas won the chase with a 73* off 45 balls, his third half-century in a row. The hosts were in complete control from the start, chasing down the mark with six wickets and 19 balls to spare.
