Fit-again Ajinkya Rahane to join Mumbai’s off-season camp
Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane has fully recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained during IPL 2022 and will begin training with Mumbai early next week at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s indoor nets facility at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
Rahane, who dropped from the Indian Test team due to his poor performance, one of the 47 players Mumbai’s selectors picked for an off-season conditioning camp at BKC on Saturday. The camp will either start on Monday or Tuesday.
“Rahane has come back from the National Cricket Academy (after recuperating from the injury). He’s fine now. I met him recently. The presence of senior players like him will help youngsters in the camp,” Mumbai chief selector Salil Ankola told TOI.
Unexpectedly, veteran wicketkeeper Aditya Tare left off the roster by the selectors. The Vijay Hazare Trophy did not include Tare in the previous year.
“We had conveyed to Tare last season that he’s not in the scheme of things in white-ball cricket,” Ankola said.
