Dinesh Karthik thanks RCB for helping him realise his dream of inclusion in T20 World Cup squad

Indian veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik on Wednesday thanked his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for helping him realise his dream of being included in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

“Thanks @RCBTweets for bein an integral part of the journey and helping me achieve my dream Most importantly to all the RCB fans who chant RCB, RCB even when am in my blues representing team INDIA, I LOVE YOU GUYS. THANKS @malolanr @CoachHesson SANJAY BANGAR @basu2013 S SRIRAM,” tweeted Karthik in response to a congratulatory message by his franchise after his inclusion in the Indian squad for World Cup.

2010 saw Karthik’s last appearance for Team India in a T20 World Cup match. He participated in two matches during that time, recording two top scores of 16 and 29 runs at an average of 14.50.

Karthik last represented India at the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 before chosen by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the IPL 2022. He had a dismal World Cup with the bat because, in addition to not having many opportunities, he could only manage to score 14 runs in two innings across three games, with his best total being just 8.

He then removed from the team once more. In 2021, he even began providing commentary for India’s trip of England.

But his situation altered when he chosen for the RCB. He chosen for the team as a finisher and, to a large part. And stepped into the shoes of the iconic South African batsman AB de Villiers, stitching several crucial stands and accelerating the run rate during the last overs.

With 330 runs in 16 games at an average of 55.00, he completed his IPL season. Karthik recorded one half-century and eight unbeaten finishes for his team.

He has played for India in 17 matches since joining the squad again. After scoring 193 runs in 14 innings with an average of 21.44 runs per innings. His highest score is 55, and he has hit a half-century.

The pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have returned to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. In the T20 World Cup squad as backup players are Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar.

ICC T20 World Cup will take place this year from October 16 to November 13.
