IPL: Chennai Super Kings, the franchise for which Suresh Raina played, on Tuesday paid a touching tribute to the star batsman on his retirement saying the “streets of Anbuden” will never forget you.

The Chennai Super Kings responded to Raina’s decision to retire from all forms of cricket by thanking the southpaw on Twitter for his support of one of the most successful teams in Indian Premier League history.

“The streets of Anbuden will never forget what Chinna Thala meant to each and every one of us! Thank You, Mr IPL #ChinnaThalaForever #WhistlePodu #Yellove,” the Super Kings said in a tweet.

Raina had previously declared his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020. Additionally, Suresh Raina played a crucial role for the four-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings.

Raina was a member of the MS Dhoni-captained side that won the World Cup in 2011. The upcoming domestic season will not see Raina on the field for Uttar Pradesh.

Taking to Twitter to announce his retirement, Raina Tweeted, “It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities.”

In his 13-year international career, Raina played for India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and also 78 T20 Internationals.

For India, Raina scored 5615 runs in 226 ODIs and 1605 in 78 T20Is. In addition to being the first Indian to achieve hundreds in all three forms of cricket. Raina, who struck a century on his Test debut, also did so outside of his native country.

Suresh Raina has 5528 runs in 205 IPL games while participating in the league. With 39 half-centuries and one century with a strike rate of 136.76.
