“Bumrah, Harshal not playing Asia Cup 2022 is relief to other teams”: Irfan Pathan fires back at Waqar Younis
Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan said on Sunday that other countries will be relieved that pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel won’t be playing in the Asia Cup in 2022.
Due to injuries, India’s top pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection in the Asia Cup 2022. At the NCA in Bengaluru, they are now receiving rehabilitation.
“It is a relief for other teams that Bumrah and Harshal aren’t playing this Asia cup!,” tweeted Pathan.

In T20I cricket this year, Harshal Patel has taken 19 wickets for India, placing him second behind veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has taken 20. This year, Bumrah has only participated in three T20Is, during which he has claimed three wickets.
This tweet follows one from renowned Pakistani bowler Waqar Younis, who claimed that the Indian top-order will relieved by the injury to great Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi.
“Shaheen’s injury Big relief for the Indian top order batsmen. Sad we won’t be seeing him in #AsiaCup2022 Get fit soon Champ @iShaheenAfridi,” he had tweeted on Saturday.

Star pacer Shaheen Afridi ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 owing to a knee injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday.
In his team’s final match against Men in Blue at the ICC T20 World Cup last year, Shaheen Afridi managed to contain the volatile Team India top order. After taking two early wickets, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, he had reduced India to 6/2. In the 19th over, he also dismissed Virat Kohli (57). His 3/31 spell was crucial in keeping India to 151/7 in 20 overs. Without losing any wickets, Pakistan easily batted down 152 with Babar Azam (68*) and Mohammed Rizwan (79*) remaining undefeated.
This year, Shaheen has played in just one T20I game, in which he claimed two wickets.
This may very well be the start of a series of wars running up to the eagerly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match at the 2022 Asia Cup on August 28.
UAE will host the Asia Cup in 2022, which will take place from August 27 through September 11.

In the group stage, each team faces off against the other once. With the top two teams from each group moving on to the Super 4 round. The top two teams from the Super 4 will advance to the championship.
