Asia Cup 2022: Team India coach Rahul Dravid tests positive for Covid-19
Asia Cup 2022: Days before India’s opening campaign in the Asia Cup T20 tournament in the UAE, the team has suffered a big blow after head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for Covid-19.
Dravid skipped the just finished three-match One-day International series against Zimbabwe, which KL Rahul’s team won 3-0. The senior selection committee decided to rest the coaching staff. That included Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, because to the hectic international schedule.
“Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022,” BCCI statement read.
“Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report,” it added.
The recent three-match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe, which KL Rahul’s squad won 3-0, was played without Dravid. Due to the busy international calendar, the senior selection committee opted to rest the coaching staff. Taht included Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.
The rest of the team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August, 2022.
