Asia Cup 2022: Rashid Khan becomes bowler with second-highest wickets in T20I cricket
Asia Cup 2022: Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan became the second-highest wicket-taker in the T20I format on Tuesday.
The star Afghan bowler reached this milestone during his team’s match against Bangladesh in Group B. Mahmudullah was dismissed by Rashid in the 16th over of Bangladesh’s innings as the batter attempted a slog sweep but was caught by Ibrahim Zadran at deep midwicket. At a score of 89 runs, Bangladesh lost their sixth wicket. Mahmudullah was out after 25 balls, scoring 25.
In four overs, he finished with a spell of 3/22.

In 68 T20Is, Rashid has already taken 115 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh is the top wicket-taker in T20 Internationals with 122, followed by Rashid (115), Tim Southee of New Zealand (114), legendary Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga (107) and Ish Sodhi of New Zealand (99).
Coming to the match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first.
In spite of a valiant effort by Mosaddek Hossain, Afghanistan’s bowlers Mujeeb ur Rahman and Rashid Khan limited Bangladesh to 127/7 on Tuesday in their Asia Cup 2022 Group B match in Sharjah.
Afghan bowlers did an excellent job of limiting Bangladesh to 53/5. Mosaddek Hossain’s (48*) and Mahmudullah’s (25) valiant strikes enabled Bangladesh to score respectably. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (3/16) and also Rashid Khan (3/22) continued to provide problems for Bangladesh’s hitters.
