Asia Cup 2022, IND vs HK: Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan said that they must strengthen their bowling in the final few overs of games after their 40-run loss to India in the Asia Cup 2022.

After defeating Hong Kong by 40 runs on Wednesday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India advanced directly to the Super Four round of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 thanks to Suryakumar Yadav‘s scorching 68*, Virat Kohli’s 59*, and Ravindra Jadeja’s quick fielding. India defeated Hong Kong in every aspect of play and advanced to the Super four as the second team.

“We bowled well till the 13 overs. We restricted them and we need to work on our death bowling. The mindset is that we enjoy our game. It was a slow wicket. Spin bowlers could not bowl well in death overs and we need to work on that,” Khan said in a post-match press conference.

Praising the star duo of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, he said, “Suryakumar Yadav batted really well. The Way Suryakumar played he did not allow us to make a comeback in the last 6-7 overs. Virat Kohli is coming back into form I guess. The way he has played shows that he is coming back into form.”

Talking about the team, Khan remarked that they require top-notch facilities. And that Hong Kong must participate in more games as an associate member.

“I think we have a very good structure. We do not have great facilities. As an associate nation, we need to play more matches. We need to improve our death bowling when we play Pakistan in the next match,” he added.

Coming to the match, Hong Kong lost three wickets while chasing a 193-run mark. The crucial wicket of Babar Hayat, who was battering Indian bowler to keep Hong Kong in the game, was taken by star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Then, with a direct smash on the stumps, Jadeja put an end to Nizakat Khan’s innings.

By dismissing Yasim Murtaza as the opener, Arshdeep Singh provided India with a significant victory. Zeeshan Ali, who was in excellent form and hit several huge smashes, tried to help Hong Kong win the game in the last overs. But it was too late as India had already won the match. And also secured a spot in the Super Four round of the tournament by a score of 40 runs.

Earlier, India’s batter Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav shone as the Men in Blue scored 192/2 against Hong Kong in an Asia Cup Group A match. India was down to 94 for two under 15 overs. When Kohli played an unbroken performance of 59 off 44 balls and Suryakumar smashed 68 not out off 26 balls. Together, the pair stitched an unbeaten 98 runs to save India.
