Asia Cup 2022: Head coach Rahul Dravid will be joining the Indian team before its much awaited Asia Cup opener against Pakistan on Sunday after testing negative for COVID-19.

Batting great Dravid, who had tested positive for the virus in a routine test before the squad left for the continental tournament, has totally recovered.

After testing positive, the former captain of India didn’t travel with the team. And the BCCI named NCA head VVS Laxman as interim coach for India.

Dravid has been in home isolation ever since the test he took on August 23 came back positive.

Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah released a statement where he stated that the Indian head coach had mild symptoms.

“Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for T20 Asia Cup.

“Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report,” Shah had said in a release.
