Asia Cup 2022: Pakistan captain Babar Azam praised pacers Naseem Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani for their efforts during his team’s crushing 155-run victory over Hong Kong in the Asia Cup 2022.

Shadab Khan’s four-wicket haul and Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 78 helped Pakistan defeat Hong Kong by a whopping 155 runs on Friday in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

“Very good win for us. We were not able to get our shots away initially with the bat. Our plan is for batters at the top to play at the end. It becomes easier for those coming in. Naseem and Dahani are performing really well having made debuts very recently,” said Azam in a post-match presentation.

With this victory, Pakistan has advanced to the Super Four round of the tournament, reserving Sunday for another thrilling matchup with India.

Coming to the match, put to bat first by Hong Kong, Pakistan posted a powerful 193/2 in their 20 overs. Mohammed Rizwan (78*) and Fakhar Zaman (53) rebuilt the innings. After the early innings demise of Azam (9) with their half century and a 116-run partnership. Then, hitter Khushdil Shah (35*), who hammered four sixes in the penultimate over to lead Pakistan to a score of over 190, provided the game’s flawless finishing touches.

Hong Kong never seemed to pose a problem as they pursued 194. None of the players from Hong Kong were able to reach double digits.

As his team was bowled out for just 38 runs, captain Nizakat Khan scored the most runs for his team with eight, giving Pakistan a 155-run victory.

Shadab Khan, a spinner, dealt Hong Kong the most significant damage, claiming 4/8 in 2.4 overs. With his spin, Mohammad Nawaz also took 3/5 in two overs. Shahnawaz Dahani (1/7) and Naseem Shah (2/7) both put out strong performances for Pakistan.

Mohammed Rizwan’s knock of 78* earned him the title of “Man of the Match.”
